The City can be a hostile environment, whatever your gender. The bear pit-style atmosphere has often proved prohibitive in getting more female traders to enter the world of stock trading, but over the course of the past decade, there has been a huge increase in the number of female traders as this infographic from City Index shows. Many of them have enjoyed real success since beginning while combining spread betting and CFD trading with full-time jobs.
While almost half of all traders questioned in developing the infographic displayed come from business backgrounds as owners, managers or directors, some come from other more surprising professions like teaching and administration.

While coming from a financial background helps when getting into trading for the first time, there aren’t any barriers in place for women in other jobs preventing them from getting involved too. Some of the more successful traders even make more profit from a year’s trading than their annual salary.

I find this infographic interesting. Imagine, the world of trading dominated by females.

It’s quite surprising that even women in professions far from trading can earn huge amount of money from such industry. We even have housewives, teachers and nurses in the top 15 occupations that join trading.

Quite inspirational, if you ask me. Ladies who are barely finished with their school can even enter this ‘used – to – be’ men’s world. Do you know that we have a 19 year old female trader?

Now, ask yourself. “Why can’t I do it?”

Given the chart from the infograph, it is safe to say that the number of female traders will increase drastically in few years time.

Here’s a word for all male traders. “BEWARE”.  There’s a huge possibility that your high rankings will soon be given to the ‘estrogen’ group.
